Corbett Community Library March newsletter

We had a fantastic Thank You event last Saturday for all of our Friends, Donors, and Volunteers who give their valuable time or donate money to support us and help keep our library open. If you were unable to attend, we would still like to extend our heartfelt thanks to you — we truly appreciate your ongoing support.

We were incredibly fortunate to receive an extremely generous donation cheque for £18,000 from Coca-Cola in partnership with Torridon Convenience Store. Torridon Convenience had the opportunity to nominate a local charity to benefit from this donation, and we were honoured that they chose us, describing us as being “at the heart of this community.”

This is an amazing amount of money and it will go a long way towards helping to sustain our future. We are so grateful for the continued support of our community.

Please read ahead to see what we have on offer in March.

TOGETHER WE ARE COMMUNITY PROJECT

We also had the delight of unveiling these two remarkable handmade quilted and embroidered panels on Saturday, that now stand as a lasting artistic legacy for our library and the wider community it serves. This project has been worked on over the past two years and proudly celebrates the diversity of our library community.

It has brought together professional artists, students, volunteers and community members of different ages, cultures, and experiences to create artwork that reflects belonging, shared identity, and storytelling through textile art. The two large panels have been lovingly created by textile artists Dave Johnson and Katharina Hamm with community voices woven into the work. They are hanging within our computer area, please do come along and take a look, we hope you like them!

INTERVIEW WITH SADIE REID

What classes do you run? Mixed Ability Pilates on a Wednesday 9:30-10:30am and Friday from 10:20-11:20am.

What is Pilates in one sentence? Exercises that strengthen the core and pelvic floor.

Who is it for? Everyone! Adaptions can be given for all ages and abilities.

Why do you like to do the classes in this space? A friendly, open and beautiful space.

Is there anything else you’d like to say? Pilates is good for pelvic floor and core strength, lower back pain, and improving flexibility and balance.

“It is a fantastic class with a really friendly bunch of people. I’ve noticed that I’ve become more toned since I started. I love it!” – Customer February 2026
