Here at Corbett Community Library volunteers are the backbone of our service! We literally couldn’t stay open each day without them. The two paid managers (who are funded by the Lottery) are assisted by over 40 volunteers made up of library volunteers/activity leaders and Trustees all of whom help the library function day to day.
When you come into the library you will be greeted, served, helped with photocopying, printing, computers or books by a volunteer. Need help learning English? You will be assisted by our lovely Helen who volunteers 6 hours each week supporting local people learning English as second language (ESOL). Hessie will cheer up your little ones every Monday morning with her singing class, local author Allison Parkinson will read to your children, Jo Robinson helps with stretches in her gentle seated yoga class, Diane supports seniors and people with Dementia with her Tuesday Get Together and Jackie supports young people with their homework each week. All of this is for FREE!
The Trustees make sure all the finances are sorted, bills are paid for and big decisions are made. Many of them also worked tirelessly to make sure this place stayed open and turned it into what it is today.
We are so proud of what has been achieved here, what an amazing resource Corbett Community Library is and what amazing volunteers we have here!
