Following the recent, more stringent lockdown measures and in view of the escalating numbers of Covid-19 infections, we have taken the tough decision to close the Library to the public from the end of business today Thursday 14th January, until further notice. We will be reviewing this decision every two weeks in line with infection rates.
We will re-start weekly online StoryTime sessions which you will find on our Facebook page and our Youtube Channel on Friday mornings at 10am. We are suspending our face to face Online Support Services sessions for 2 weeks and they will resume on 1st February all being well. All other community activities have ceased.
However, for now, Lewisham Library Service will sustain their Home Library Service, eLibrary service, and social media interactions.
The Home Library Service reaches Lewisham residents who – often for health reasons – are housebound. Any resident can join the HLS free of charge. Colleagues will get in touch to find out more about the reading preferences of the resident and deliver books to their home, in a Covid-safe way.
Lewisham’s eLibrary Service allows residents to access over 50,000 eBooks, thousands of newspapers and magazines, eAudio Books, courses, and more. This is easily done through a mobile phone, tablet, or home computer, and it is completely free of charge.
Lewisham’s library staff have developed a series of social media channels on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and more. These offer access to great quality content including activities for children, local history reads, book discussions, and much more.
We hope that residents will take the opportunity to make the most of the above services.
Lastly we hope you are all safe and well and look forward to connecting with you face to face and resuming our much needed services in the near future.
