Christmas Craft Countdown 5th/ 6th & 12th Dec 10am -4pm

We are also delighted to be hosting our annual Christmas Craft Fair which is this year arranged over 3 dates in December in order to lower the number of people within the library at any one time. On each date in December we will host 6 local artists, designers and makers who will be selling their creative works such as jewellery, ceramics, tasty sweet treats and art work.

We’d be delighted if you’d join us to support these artists, many of whom will have had a tough year with little or no markets to trade at. So don’t do all of your Christmas shopping on line or panic buy your auntie some loo roll in the supermarket! Save your Christmas shopping to do here at the library and bag yourself a bespoke treat, or three, made with love by somebody local. Shop local, and support small business!

There will also be mulled wine, cakes, bookstall and a library information stand.

#More than just a library

We have some great services running such as Online Support Services in which two of our fantastic volunteers help people to complete online forms and applications that they are struggling with. They have helped around 37 people since August with Re-housing, Disabled Freedom Pass, Blue Badge, Taxi card, anti-social neighbours, Council Tax, dept, universal credit and employment.
We’ve also started some new initiatives such as Doorstep chat. If you have a neighbour, relative or friend who is feeling isolated, lonely or fearful of the outside world we are here to help. We have volunteers who will visit people and have a social distance chat for half an hour on their doorstep. We’ve also walked with a customer who was feeling anxious about leaving the house.
Lastly to fill those cold dark evenings we have introduced Jigsaw swop! Here at the library we have been donated a bunch of jigsaws which you can come in and borrow/swop or keep. We treat all donations the same as books so they are quarantined for 72 hrs before going out to a new customer.

A lot of our regular activities have stopped running or taken a different format due to the pandemic. However we still have; ESOL (English as a second language), knit N Knatter, Mindful Monday, Torridon Writers, Slimming World, Homework Club, Corbett Library Book Club and Baby Book Club.
See our activities page for more details:

We look forward to welcoming you back into the library soon!
